About us

The Coral de Alcobendas was founded in 1988 as part of the Municipal Music Band. Just one year later, it embarked on its own path by becoming an independent cultural association. In 1992, Fernando Terán took over the choir's musical direction, succeeding Francisco Serra.

With the support of the Alcobendas City Council and thanks to the enthusiasm of a group of people passionate about choral music, the choir gradually consolidated its role in the cultural life of the city.

The organisation of the “Coral 92” Choral Music Symposium, participation in the show Los Creadores alongside Ariel Ramírez, Mariano Mores and Julián Plaza at Madrid’s Teatro Albéniz, the recording of three Christmas carol albums, performances of the opera Lucia di Lammermoor, and the inclusion of Carmina Burana in its repertoire are some of the milestones that best define the choir’s history.

As a cultural association based in Alcobendas, it has promoted initiatives aimed at bringing choral music to new audiences, including educational concerts in schools, the creation of a children's and youth choir for several years, and the organisation of the Alcobendas Canta festival. The choir also plays an active role in the city's social and cultural life through its participation in events such as the patron saint festivities, Christmas celebrations and European Music Day, often alongside the Municipal Symphonic Band. In addition, it organises the Sacred Music Series every year during Lent, offering several concerts in different towns and cities.

Exchange programmes with other ensembles have enabled the choir to perform throughout Spain and in countries such as Portugal, France, Germany, Italy, Hungary, Argentina and the Netherlands. These experiences have allowed it to share the stage with choirs of many different backgrounds and styles, while also bringing that musical diversity back to Alcobendas.

Many voices have been part of this choir over the years. Some members have remained since its earliest days, while others joined only recently. Yet its essence remains unchanged: to enjoy music and to bring that enjoyment to others, sharing with audiences the result of a collective effort.
